David Geffen Files For Divorce

After less than two years of marriage, entertainment billionaire David Geffen has filed for divorce from his husband, and former go-go dancer David Armstrong.

With Forbes putting the retired businessman’s net worth at some $8,700,000,000.00, the 82-year-old tied the knot in 2023 with his now 32-year old spouse, but the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement.

It was in 1971 that Geffen co-founded Asylum Records, followed by Geffen Records in 1980, DGC Records as of 1990, and he co-founded DreamWorks Records in 1996.

In the film space, David co-founded DreamWorks SKG with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg in 1994.

Retired for 15 years, the entertainment mogul’s income consists of stocks and equities, and according to California law, dividends from stocks do not usually form part of the marital estate, which could potentially leave Armstrong without a large cash settlement.

Citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their split, Geffen has retained well-known divorce lawyer Laura Wasser. Because California law dictates that spouses receive payment for half the length of a marriage, Geffen’s husband will receive spousal support for a year, along with Armstrong’s lawyer’s fees.

Geffen and Armstrong first met in 2020 when Armstrong served as a personal trainer for Geffen and they married in a private ceremony in Beverly Hills three years later.
