Sia and Cypress Hill have aligned musical forces for ‘Street x Street,’ the Major League Soccer LAFC (Los Angeles Football Club) anthem.
Produced by DJ Flict, last week’s Friday (7.25) drop celebrates the soccer club’s connection to its fanbase, the 3252, in its Cypress Hill-rapped verses with Sia’s unmistakable vocals in the chorus: “We go hard, yeah. There’s no stopping us… You can’t fuck with us.”
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, B-Real from Cypress Hill said “Collaborating with Sia on ‘Street X Street’ was a first for us, and it brought a whole new energy to the table.” “Her powerful voice took the track to another level. Cypress Hill has always been about pushing boundaries and trying new things.” “Teaming up with Sia and DJ Flict to create this new LAFC anthem just made sense.”
Not the first such release, ‘Street …’is the sixth LAFC anthem co-produced by LAFC, most with DJ Flict at the helm. In 2022 Kid Ink and B-Real collaborated on “Do It For LA.” In 2023 B-Real with Mexican rapper Alemán and Bobby Castro came together on “Ciudad de Campeones,” with Castro returning that same year with O.T. Genesis for “Por La Cultura.”
In a statement, Rich Orosco, LAFC’s Chief Brand Officer said “LAFC is a movement here in L.A., and this anthem perfectly captures the spirit of our community.” “We built this club Street by Street, Block by Block, One by One, and we are very honored to have such talented global artists believe in our community and dedicate their time and energy to creating music for our fans.”
Currently #5 on the Western Conference standings, LAFC is in a playoff position, and is scheduled to play the Portland Timbers Friday night, marking their return from an All-Star Game break. All league games stream on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+.
