The English translation of the lyrics include “This song makes me cry because it is true, so much love I have for you, this deep decision to always stay honest — for the dance to be then the shared moment, the joyful celebration. One moment together. A wholesome surrender. One love, from one to the next, before I danced for this video.”
‘Rentrer …’ follows Christine and the Queens’ “Dancing in Babylon,” recent collaboration with MGMT that appeared on the duo’s recent Loss of Life album, and in an interview with Rolling Stone, MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden stated “Dancing in Babylon” started off as a “silly, jokey song about this couple in Rockaway Beach that I didn’t know that well.” At first, it was more of a “happy-go-lucky, cute little song.” “Once we brought in Christine and the Queens, it went into this whole other space where it felt like ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ or a Roxy Music ballad.” “It’s all over the place.
Last year witnessed the drop of Christine and the Queens’ epic triple-LP Paranoia, Angels, True Love, that followed 2022’s Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue).
