After being accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to music producer Abraham Diaw, following an alleged attack in a London nightclub in February of 2023, Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty on Friday morning (6.20) at Southwark Crown Court in London.
Several hours after performing at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium as part of his Breezy Bowl tour, the 36-year-old embattled singer appeared in court wearing a blue suit and large sunglasses.
Professionally known as Hoody Baby, Brown’s co-defendant, U.S. musician Omololu Akinlolu also pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
While Brown also faced charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon, the judge adjourned the arraignment on those two counts and the musician has until July 11 have to enter a plea prior to the October 26, 2026 trial date.
When he arrived in Great Britain for his ongoing tour, Brown was initially arrested in Manchester on May 15 and during his first court appearance it was claimed that Diaw was at London’s Tape nightclub when he was allegedly hit several times with a bottle before being “punched and kicked” repeatedly.
It was several weeks after he was arrested in the city that the musician kicked off the U.K. leg of his tour in Manchester and during his performance, he told the crowd, “Thank you for coming and supporting me. And thank you to the jail…It was really nice.”
