Carlos Santana Cancels Show After Hard Fall

Following a “hard fall” that resulted in a broken finger, Carlos Santana was forced to postpone the launch of his upcoming Las Vegas residency.

Slated to start his stint at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on January 22, due to a fall at his Hawaiian vacation home during the winter holiday season, the now 77-year-old guitarist had to reschedule the venue dates.

In a formal statement about the postponement, the president of Universal Tone Management, Michael Vrionis, said:

“I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai. He took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand. He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully.” “Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He just needs to heal. Santana profoundly regrets these postponements of his upcoming performances, but accidents happen, and his health is our number one concern. He is looking forward to seeing all of his fans very soon.”

Not the first time the iconic musician’s health effected his shows, in August of this year Carlos was forced to cancel several September and October gigs following a “corrective procedure” for a “back issue”.

At the time, Carlos’ team took to facebook with the following statement:

“From Team Santana: As many of you are already aware, Carlos has been dealing with a back issue that will soon be treated with a corrective procedure. Due to this medical procedure, the September 2 show in Phoenix at Footprint Center, September 4 show in Albuquerque at Isleta Amphitheater, and September October 2 – 6 shows at House of Blues Las Vegas will be cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. The shows currently scheduled for August 27 in Mountain View, August 28 in Los Angeles, August 30 in San Diego, and August 31 at Fool In Love Festival will proceed as planned.” “If you purchased through Ticketmaster, refunds will be issued automatically. If you purchased from a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek, VividSeats, etc.), please reach out to your point of purchase. “Carlos would like all of his fans to know that he is looking forward to seeing everyone post procedure at the House of Blues in Las Vegas starting on October 30th.”

Once the corrective procedure was complete, Santana returned to the stage for his planned October and November 2024.
