After she allegedly threw a microphone into her audience, Cardi B has since been accused of assault and battery by a woman who was hit by the flying equipment during a day party at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas some two years ago.
Identified only as Jane Doe from Ohio, according to the court documents, the woman is suing the superstar rapper over the 2023 incident after Cardi reportedly asked the crowd to throw water at her as temperatures soared.
The plaintiff says when she threw water at the musician (born Belcalis Marlenis Cephus,) – as several other people in the audience had done – the rapper responded by pelting her with her microphone claiming that the singer “overreacted” and injured her.
Captured on multiple videos that have since been widely shared via social media, at the time of the incident, Cardi B was investigated by police and no charges were filed.
Shortly after the incident, the microphone sold for $99,000.00 which Doe claims “exacerbated emotional distress”. The money raised was divided between two charities, the Wounded Warrior Project and local Vegas charity, Friendship Circle Las Vegas.
According to a press release, Doe’s lawyer, Cierra N Norris, will hold a subsequent press conference in Las Vegas.
