Shortly after the civil trial where the superstar rapper was cleared of the assault and battery allegations made against her by former security guard Emani Ellis, on Tuesday (9.02,) Cardi B threw a pen at a reporter outside a Los Angeles courthouse after he asked her a “disrespectful” question.
As the musician (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) excited the courthouse, a male reporter posed the following personal question about her love life instead of the verdict:
“Hey Cardi, you’re beautiful.” “Insiders are claiming (estranged husband) Offset is publicly bragging about getting you pregnant for the fourth time. Do you foresee any paternity issues with Stefon Diggs?”
Cardi, who began dating sportsman Diggs in 2024, then took a pen from a waiting fan and threw it in the man’s direction, yelling, “Stop disrespecting me. Don’t disrespect me.”
As the reporter replied with “even though you just threw stuff at me,” the Grammy award winner responded with “I don’t care. You’re disrespectful. Don’t do that. Do you see women asking those types of questions to me? Why do you feel as a man you have to ask me those types of questions? Act like you have some manners and your mum taught you (to) respect women.”
It was during her trial that Cardi was accused of cutting Ellis’s cheek with her long nails and spitting on her during an argument outside a Beverly Hills doctor’s office in February 2018.
After this week’s verdict the 32-year-old thanked her legal team, the jurors and her supporters and declared that she will countersue the next person who tries to file a “frivolous” lawsuit against her.
