Over the weekend, Macklemore‘s home was reportedly targeted by thieves.
According to a police report obtained by People, while his three children were asleep inside, two men broke into the superstar rapper’s property in Capitol Hill, Seattle in the early hours of Saturday morning (6.07.)
Just before 1am local time, a woman, identified as the family’s nanny, called emergency services and alleged the men had used bear spray – an aerosol product designed for deterring aggressive animals – on her.
“She escaped, but three children were still inside the house.” “(The caller) also added that the house belonged to a high-profile individual…. and that she believed the crime may have been politically motivated for some reason,’ read the report.
The nanny also reported that after the burglars yelled, “Where are the jewels, b**ch?,” she took them to a bedroom where the suspects allegedly “went through drawers, cabinets and raided the closet full of clothing, jewelry, and shoes”.
In a separate report, police stated the suspects “ransacked the residence stealing thousands of dollars of items”.
Born Benjamin Haggerty, the musician and his wife Tricia Davis are parents to daughters Sloane, 10, and Colette, seven, and son Hugo, three.
The burglars fled the scene shortly after the victim escaped to a neighboring property, and family members were called to take care of the children.
Last week, Macklemore played concerts in Ireland and Germany with his next show set to take place in Calgary, Canada on 5 July.
At press time, representatives for the married couple have yet to comment on the incident.
