It was only a matter of time before a member of BTS broke away from the band and on Saturday (6.25) Big Hit confirmed details of J-Hope‘s upcoming solo LP and single.
Titled Jack in the Box, the Korean boy band member’s individual full length will arrive July 15, with his debut single coming July 1. According to a formal statement, the project “represents [J-Hope’s] aspirations to break the mold and grow further … diverse content to show J-Hope’s creative identity as an artist will be introduced.”
Taking to Instagram, J-Hope (born Jung Ho-seok) shared the news by posting a video with a white J in the center of the screen and a colorful checkered background, simply captioned “‘J’ack in the box.”
The current info follows a mid-June mention that J-Hope would be the first of the group to release his solo project and that the septet would be “taking a temporary break” to allow J-Hope, RM, Suga, V, Jungkook, and Jimin time to spend on their individual projects.
In support of his solo project J-Hope is set to headline the main stage at Lollapalooza on July 31, marking the first time a South Korean artist will headline a main stage at a major American music festival in the United States.
