Following up pop/punk legends’ last studio album One More Time… (2023) that featured the return of guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge who left the band in 2015, Travis Barker has confirmed a new Blink-182 album.
According to The New York Times’ Popcast, the group’s drummer said “I’m starting a couple of other projects, like producing projects, working on the next Blink album,” and when asked when he will work on the record, Barker replied: “Working on the Blink album this year.”
As Blink recently released a 20th anniversary reissue of their seminal 2001 album Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, the stickman is also part of new punk supergroup made up of Green Day, Rancid and Ramones. For the official 50th anniversary tribute show to the Ramones at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angles, the rock icons will join forces as Cretin Family aka Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Rancid icon Tim Armstrong, former Ramones bassist CJ Ramone, plus surprise guests.
Featuring such tracks as ‘Judy Is A Punk’ and ‘Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue,’ the tribute night will celebrate 50 years since the Ramones released their self-titled debut in 1976 that helped spark a revolution in punk music.
About the event, CJ said “This is gonna be the biggest celebration of the Ramones anyone has seen for a long time!!!”
American Idiot singer Billie Joe noted that the ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’ band’s influence can still be felt today, adding “The spirit of the Ramones is alive in every backyard punk show, punk club and festival. Generation after generation of cretins and weirdos become Ramones lovers.” “Kids are influenced by the Ramones and they don’t even know it yet. ¡Viva Ramones!”
Stating that “music was never the same” after the Ramones, Rancid star Tim stated “From the moment I first heard the Ramones, music was never the same. They are my favorite band of all time!” “I can’t wait to play those great and perfect Ramones songs with my friends CJ, Travis and Billie. It’s gonna be wild!”
Adding that “Punk rock wouldn’t be what it is today without them. I’m honored to celebrate 50 years of one of the greatest bands ever!!!”” Travis described the iconic band as “the blueprint.”
