Premiering May 24, Disney+ drops the trailer for the upcoming documentary on the Beach Boys.
Canvassing the defining moments and influence of the Beach Boys story, including the band’s deep family history, their contribution to the 20th century California sound, their competition with the Beatles, and the dark side beneath some of their personal pop music history i.e. with Brian Wilson’s dad, Murry, sold the band’s publishing. The trailer also features interviews with Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, Don Was, as well as a voluminous amount of archival footage featured in the film.
Directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny The Beach Boys features brand new interviews with the iconic pop band’s surviving members Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston and contributions from former band members Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar, as well as archival interviews with late Beach Boys Carl and Dennis Wilson (who died in 1998 and 1983, respectively).
