In response to a prior sexual assault lawsuit, Axl Rose has reached a private settlement.
Alleging she was attacked and raped her in a Manhattan hotel room in 1989, in November of last year, former actress-model Sheila Kennedy filed a lawsuit against the legendary Guns N’ Roses frontman.
Given the one-year window that extended the statute of limitations for allegations of sexual misconduct, Kennedy’s complaint was brought under New York’s Adult Survivors Act.
Though terms of the agreement were not disclosed, on Tuesday (12.03,) editors at Rolling Stone confirmed that Rose and Kennedy had reached a private settlement over the case.
In a formal statement issued to the publication, the now 62-year old, iconic rocker (born William Rose Jr.) maintained his innocence, stating:
“As I have from the beginning, I deny the allegations. There was no assault,” with the musician’s attorney, E. Danya Perry added “Mr. Rose has suffered greatly from this lawsuit, and I am pleased that he will now be able to move on with his life.”
While Kennedy has yet to comment on the settlement, the 62-year old plaintiff first detailed her allegations against Rose in her 2016 memoir No One’s Pet and repeated the details in the 2021 documentary Look Away.
