Shakira’s Copa América Performance: Look + Listen

During the Sunday (7.14) halftime show at the Copa América Final between Argentina and Colombia at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, Shakira delivered an electrifying performance.

Supported by a visuals featuring AI elements that included a large howling she-wolf to open the show alongside floating vehicles, the Colombian superstar emerged from below the stage dressed in a silver, sparkly outfit. During her “Hips Don’t Lie,” first number, Shakira was joined by a bevy of dancers and pyrotechnics as she screamed “Te quiero Colombia!”

During her performance of “Te Felicito,” “TQG,” and “Puntería” from her latest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, green flames, floating red jewels, and a sea of neon green waves surrounded the stage.

Come November, Shakira will embark on a world tour that starts at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California (11.02.) Her first trek since 2018, during Shakira’s Rolling Stone cover story, she spoke about of the tour “I think this is going to be the biggest in my career so far, the most extensive, with the most range. It’s also going to be the longest.”

Adding that her concerts usually last 90 minutes, the now 47-year old artist (born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) sees her upcoming shows going for a little over two hours. During the interview, she said the goal of her upcoming tour is to empower people, and she also was working on stage designs to bring her closer to the audience. “My fans have been having a dialogue with me: I’ve spoken and they’ve listened, and they speak and I listen and learn from their experiences.” “Because just like me, there’s a million she-wolves in the world, getting ready to go into battle and finding their way,” she said.
