In honor of the late singer’s 40th birthday, Amy Winehouse‘s original band will perform a special concert at the end of the year.
Come December 2023, the iconic singer’s all-too-short life will be celebrated by the very same band members who were there at the very beginning of her career.
On what was to be Amy’s 40th birthday on September 14 the show will take place at KOKO in Camden, London, on Friday December 22.
In celebration of her brief yet extraordinary career and life, Winehouse’s original musicians will be led by her long-term musical director and bass player Dale Davis, who’s also the music consultant for the upcoming biopic ‘Back to Black.’
Featuring Bronte Shandé on vocals along with on-screen visuals and unique footage, the celebratory show has toured throughout Europe between 2022 and 2023, including several appearances at British festivals.
Named after her acclaimed second LP and hit single of the same title, Amy’s life story will be helmed by ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ director directed Sam Taylor-Johnson, featuring Marisa Abela whp will portray the embattled musician, along with co-stars Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan, Juliet Cowan and Lesley Manville.
Six-time Grammy winner Amy tragically died from alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011 at the age of just 27.
