According to Britney Spears, the source of her enchanted new pink hair color was Sarah Jessica Parker‘s character from Hocus Pocus.
From the Instagram throwback compilation video of (her) 2000s outfits influenced by Reese Witherspoon to her subtly pink locks inspired by Parker’s character Sarah Sanderson in the 1993 Halloween classic, the pop superstar has recently resurrected trends from the early aughts these days. “It’s the first time I’ve colored all of my hair a bright color so f—- it. … Pink is hot if I do say so myself,” captioned Spears of the feisty collection of pink hair-flipping photos in which she wears a leopard bodysuit. “Oh and not only did I copy @reesewitherspoon the other day with my throwback looks, but now I’m copying @sarahjessicaparker’s hair tease from Hocus Pocus!!!!”
Spears, 39, recalled Parker’s signature red lipstick which she wasn’t allowed to wear at the age of 11 because of her mother’s rules. Parker’s new ‘do may not be twinning with the splash of color on her lip, but the “Gimme More” singer said she looks like Bella Thorne’s twin with her hair, much to the delight of the fellow Disney alum. “@britneyspears says she’s your twin w pink hair !!!” Thorne wrote “Peace out life made” over a screenshot of Spears’ caption on her Instagram story, followed by a selfie of her red hair. “When that movie came out, I was freaking 11 years old, and I swear she had it right before Sex and the City… People, it’s all about the hair and the heels!!!!” “After watching that movie, I wanted to wear red lipstick, but my mom wouldn’t let me, so I used lipgloss instead!!!! Sh—… I should’ve put on some red lipstick!!! PS: Why do I get the distinct impression that I’m @bellathorne’s pink-haired twin?!?!?!”
Still embroiled in a conservatorship battle with her father, Parker joined a slew of other celebrities in the #FreeBritney campaign after the documentary Framing Britney Spears was released on February 5th, tweeting “#FreeBritney” and “#FramingBritneySpears.” Along with her own little sister Jamie Lynn Spears, Miley and Noah Cyrus, Sharon Stone, Natalie Portman, and Tawny Janae, Spears called Sarah Jessica Parker as one of the “women that have truly inspired my life,”
