Bret Michaels Surgery Postpones Tour

Following emergency kidney stone surgery, Bret Michaels has cancelled all his upcoming Live and Amplified tour shows including eight shows at North American festivals and other stops.

Following his Friday night (8.21,) show in Georgia, the Poison frontman’s Michaels Entertainment Group took to Facebook with:

“Following Bret Michaels’ comeback show at The Bowl at Sugar Hill, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries.”

Noting the that the iconic rocker “will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%,” and that doctors “will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being,” the statement said “he wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels.”

In the comments thread, the 63-year old singer/songwriter said that there are “not enough words to tell you how much your incredible messages mean to me”.

Due to the the singer’s alleged request to be paid six times the amount his bandmates would receive for the shows, in January, a 40th anniversary Poison tour was officially scrapped.
