As the band’s 2010 ‘Rock That Body’ hit was honored with the all-new Best Throwback Song Award at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Fergie reunited with the Black Eyed Peas at the 2026 American Music Awards
As the iconic group’s lead singer from 2002 to 2018, Fergie was overcome with emotion as she joined will.i.am, APL.DE.AP and Taboo onstage to collect the trophy, adding “Rock That Body, we did it.” “Black Eyed Peas, ‘Rock That Body,’ American Music Awards 2026, let’s go!”
Winning over Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’ and 4 Non Blondes ‘What’s Up,’ the Black Eyed Peas band members last reunited in December, to celebrate their 50th birthdays.
Before BEP were unveiled as the recipient, many took to social media to point out that the audience belted out ‘Iris’ with one user writing “So they’re handing out awards for best throwback song and they have the whole arena sing goo goo dolls and then not giving that award to them (sic)” With another stating “Goo Goo Dolls is too much for me, it hurts that they didn’t win.”
Ahead of the awards ceremony, Black Eyed Peas reacted to the nomination on Instagram with “??We’re honored to be nominated for the 2026 @amas !! ‘Rock That Body’ up for Best Throwback Song… a song we made all those years ago, still making an impact today.”
Prior to returning to the stage for a special medley performance, the Pussycat Dolls reunited earlier this year with Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt marking two decades since their 2006 debut at the award ceremony.
Nicole told the crowd to “make some noise” as the trio kicked things off with 2006 hit single ‘Buttons,’ before performing their new single ‘Club Song,’ and subsequently being joined by Spliff Star and Busta Rhymes as the medley came to an end with ‘Don’t Cha.’
