The British singer/songwriter who identifies as non-binary, and the English fashion designer, who were initially linked in December of 2022, Sam Smith and Christian Cowan are reportedly engaged to be married.
Following Monday night’s (5.04) 2026 Met Gala in Manhattan, editors at Page Six claimed Sam and Christian are set to wed after three years of dating, with insiders saying that the Cartier yellow diamond bauble the iconic singer wore to the annual fashion bash was an engagement ring.
A reliable source revealed that the couple was overheard talking about their relationship in the hotel lobby before the Met Gala, divulging “From what I understand, it was a private engagement.” “They are over the moon, and from what I hear, so in love!”
With Cowan having created the dramatic Erté-inspired black ensemble that Smith wore to the event, along with a matching black headpiece created by Stephen Jones, the couple attended fashion’s biggest New York night together.

Representatives for the 33-year old musician, and the 32-year old designer have yet to respond to the engagement report.
