Initially linked in December of 2022, Sam Smith is preparing to tie the knot with fashion designer, Christian Cowan.
While wearing a yellow diamond ring to the Met Gala in May, the superstar musician sparked engagement rumors, and during his Tuesday (7.28) New York Times interview, the Grammy award winner confirmed the nuptial news.
And during the conversation, the British-born singer/songwriter confirmed that the title of their upcoming fifth studio album, Hazel Eyes, was inspired by his lover and “requited love,’ and that the ‘Everlasting Love’ track is about the night before Sam and Christian’s first date.
“For me, there’s something radical about being queer in this time, in this world, and singing love songs.” “I’m not going to allow the poison that I read and that I see to affect my way of loving,” said the 34-year-old artist.
Recalling how the vocals for new song ‘Oh Mother’ were done several times in the studio, Smith said “(The track was) the biggest hill and monster of a song to climb,” adding that they’ve grown used to changes in their voice: “You hear life within the instrument.”
Serving as the follow-up to 2023’s Gloria, Hazel Eyes is set to be released on August 21.
