Marking the final chapter in a career that’s seen the iconic rockers sell 120,000,000+ albums since forming in 1968, Deep Purple have confirmed their new studio LP is slated for a July 3 release date.
Instead of leaning on their legacy, the British band said the new material captures the same energy that defined their classic era, with frontman Ian Gillan stating the current line-up feels like a modern reflection of the band’s 1970s peak, adding “Where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies.” “I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with Highway Star, Smoke on the Water, Lazy – the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ‘69 to ‘73.” “Deep Purple is in a great place right now.”
Realigning talents with producer Bob Ezrin who’s worked with KISS, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed and Alice Cooper, the 60-year old group will craft what they describe as their heaviest full length in years, recorded live together in the studio.
Exploring the end of humanity not as destruction but as transformation or a shift beyond physical existence, SPLAT! is a concept developed by Gillan.
While additional details on the album’s theme will be revealed in the run-up to release, the group will support the project with an extensive 2026 touring schedule, including 86 shows across 28 countries on three continents.
Including CD, digital, standard 2LP, limited purple and limited transparent yellow vinyl editions, SPLAT! will be released in multiple formats. A deluxe box set will feature the album on 2LP and CD, a 12-page booklet, three exclusive 10-inch live records from the 2024 tour, and a 7-inch single containing the bonus track GUINNESIS, available only in the box set. Additional exclusive items – including a picture disc, cassette, and a signed canvas limited to 199 copies — will be available through the band’s official store. The full tracklist spans 13 songs across four LP sides, including ‘Arrogant Boy,’ ‘The Rider,’ ‘Guilt Trippin’, and the title track.
With new music from the album expected to be released in the coming weeks, fans of the legendary band can pre-order now via www.deeppurple.lnk.to/SPLAT.
