According to local TV station NBC4, on Wednesday (3.31,) former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and singer Lindsey Buckingham was attacked in Los Angeles while entering a Santa Monica building when a woman reportedly threw an “unknown substance” at him and ran off.
According to the news outlet, local police described the woman as a “stalking suspect”, whom Buckingham knew from past incidents. And a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told Us Weekly, “Our threat management unit is handling the investigation.”
During the alleged attack, Buckingham was not injured and the incident is under investigation. The assailant has since been identified, but no arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning.
Lindsey Buckingham became famous after joining Fleetwood Mac in 1974, alongside Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and John McVie, and was featured on eight studio albums including 1975’s Fleetwood Mac, 1977’s Rumours, 1979’s Tusk, and 2003’s Say You Will – where he won two Grammy Awards.
Following tensions described by Mick Fleetwood as a “brick wall” situation, Lindsey was let go from the band in 2018 and was replaced by Mike Campbell and Neil Finn.
