New George Michael Concert Film + Live LP Confirmed

Heading to theaters later this year is George Michael: The Faith Tour, the recently restored concert film capturing George Michael during a pivotal moment in his career.

In partnership with Mercury Studios and Sony Music Entertainment, and George Michael Entertainment, the never-before-seen film was shot in 1988 at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of the Faith Tour, that documents the period that cemented late music icon as an era-defining solo artist whose impact still shapes music, fashion and pop culture.

Considered lost for decades, the film has been carefully restored and remastered, offering an intimate yet explosive portrait of a 24-year-old artist in complete command of his voice and stage presence.

Featuring a 14-camera shoot captured on 35mm film across two nights, and transforming the archival footage into a full cinematic experience, The Faith Tour hopes to recreate the tour as it was meant to be seen and heard.

Celebrating a moment that shifted the superstar singer/songwriter’s career, the theatrical release – directed by longtime collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin – opens with Finding Faith, an original short film by Mary McCartney that provides context for the tour’s cultural significance and features George’s own words through voiceover from an unheard interview, alongside unseen images by photographer Herb Ritts and behind-the-scenes footage from the ‘Faith’ music video.

Concurrent with the film, George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment will release THE FAITH TOUR, an 18-track live album featuring previously unreleased recordings from the trek, as well as performances from both his Wham! and solo catalogues.

George Michael tragically passed away on Christmas Day 2016, at the age of 53, from natural causes.
