Katy Perry Fined For ‘Lifetimes’ Video

After Spanish authorities initiated an investigation into the singer’s music video, the team behind Katy Perry‘s ‘Lifetimes’ shoot were fined for filming in a protected area without permission from the Balearic Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries

In July of last year, portions of the video footage were shot inside the dune of s’Espalmador, a protected islet within the Ses Salines National Park on the Balearic Islands.

According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, the production company was fined $7,000.00. And though officials deemed the offense “serious”, they withheld any additional penalties as no lasting damage was discovered in the area.

In the ‘Lifetimes’ music video, Perry is cliff jumping, dancing on a beach in a bikini, and partying at nightlife spots in Ibiza and Formentera.

Following the investigative news, a representative for the musician’s record label, Capitol Records, believed they had the necessary permits to film on the beach, stating:

“The local video production company assured us that all necessary permits for the video were secure.” “We have since learned that one permit was in process, although we were given verbal authority to go ahead,” and insisted they had “adhered to all regulations associated with filming in this area and have the utmost respect for this location and the officials tasked with protecting it”.
