Originally filed in September, the White Stripes have now dropped their copyright lawsuit against the newly re-elected President of the United States.
After a clip of The White Stripes’ music appeared in a video in August, Jack White warned the Trump presidential campaign not to use his music
The band’s ‘Seven Nation Army’ single was used in a clip of the newly re-elected president traveling on the campaign trail, prompting White to warn: “Don’t even think about using my music you fascists,” before saying he would be filing a lawsuit for its inappropriate use.
Two months ago a lawsuit was filed in federal court of New York, with Meg and Jack White listed as co-plaintiffs who “vehemently oppose the policies adopted and actions taken by Defendant Trump when he was President and those he has proposed for the second term he seeks”.
Now, however, a court filing details how the band have requested the claims be dismissed “without prejudice”, which would allow them to refile another lawsuit in the future should they choose to do so.
Following Trump’s win last week, Jack White posted a dire warning to social media: “Americans chose a known, obvious fascist and now America will get whatever this wannabe dictator wants to enact from here on in.”
