Mariah Carey Snubbed By Rock Hall Of Fame

About not being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Mariah Carey has made her position clear.

Though she received her very first Rock Hall nomination this year, she was not selected to join the class of 2024 that included Cher, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, and Ozzy Osbourne, among others.

When questioned about the omission during a recent interview for The Los Angeles Times, the multi-Grammy award winner indicated that she was disappointed, stating:

“My thoughts are: I didn’t get in.” “Everybody was calling me going, ‘I think you’re getting in!’ and so I was excited about it. But then it didn’t happen.” Adding that her attorney, Allen Grubman, was prioritized for the accolade over her, Carey said “My lawyer got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before me,” referring to his receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award in 2022 for his work in the entertainment industry.

Elsewhere during the interview, Mariah admitted her interest in winning more Grammy Awards, taking home only five, despite 34 competitive nominations over the course of her career:

“They gave me two Grammys when I first started out. Then one year – huge year for me, career-wise – I had like six nominations with the Daydream album and One Sweet Day and Always Be My Baby and Fantasy. All those songs in a row ended up being so big that you just thought, ‘OK, at least One Sweet Day is gonna win Best Duet or something,'” the 55-year-old recalled. “Then I sat there the whole time and I didn’t get anything. I was like, ‘This is not fun. But what can I do? Be a sore loser and say, “F the Grammys?’ Whatever. If they give me more Grammys, I’ll like them more.”

In addition to her five Grammy trophies, Mariah was presented with the special Grammy Global Impact Award during February’s ceremony.
