During the Kamala Harris rally on Thursday (10.31,) Jennifer Lopez stood up for Puerto Ricans in response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s outrageous reference to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” during last Sunday’s Donald Trump rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
At the rally for Trump’s presidential rival, Lopez, whose parents are Puerto Rican, spoke out to defend citizens of the United States territory, stating:
“He has consistently worked to divide us.” “At Madison Square Garden, he reminded us who he really is and how he really feels.” “It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans that were offended that day. It was every Latino in this country. It was humanity and anyone of decent character.” “I believe in the power of women. I believe that women have the power to make the difference in this election,” she declared. “I believe in the power of Latinos. I believe in the power of our community. I believe in the power of all our votes.”
In addition to last night’s rally, J-Lo responded to Hinchcliffe’s comments last Sunday when she reposted a video on Instagram claiming Trump doesn’t care about Americans living in Puerto Rico.
Encouraging her fans to register to vote in the upcoming election, earlier this month in a video posted to social media, the superstar singer/actress said “Your vote is your voice and your power and our voices are louder together.”
