As a result of rat infestation, Fatboy Slim‘s Big Beach Cafe in Hove, Sussex UK has been closed for cleaning as the superstar deejay/artist’s business venture was deemed unfit for service after health inspectors found it was riddled with vermin.
After discovering a number of hygiene-related violations including rat droppings in all food areas of the UK musicians’s establishment, health officials declared it “an imminent risk to food safety” and it was given a hygiene rating of 1 out of 5 in September.
Born Norman Cook, the artist purchased the business from Beatles star Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills in 2013.
Instead of the regulation 8 degrees Celcius, inspectors found food kept at 15 degrees Celcius. They also discovered worn-out chopping boards in need of replacement, a chef who was not wearing an apron, lettuce that was unwashed before being served to customers, and rodent feces were identified in all food-related areas of the cafe.
The official inspectors’ report stated “This presents an imminent risk to food safety.” “You are required to have adequate procedures to prevent pests.”
Before it can reopen for business, the cafe must be deep cleaned and pass a new inspection.
