On Monday night (9.12,) during his opening monologue at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, Kenan Thompson surprised the audience by demonstrating his best dance moves.
Thompson, who hosted this year’s ceremony, showed viewers that not only can iconic television theme songs be sung, but they can be danced to as well.
The famous “Saturday Night Live” actor/comedian launched into his opening with a number choreographed to the “Friends” theme song, “I’ll be there for you” by The Rembrandts, followed by some early 1970s fun with a tribute to the “Brady Bunch.”
The crowd went crazy when Emmys announcer and fellow-comedian Sam Jay introduced the original cast of the “Brady Bunch” — Barry Williams, Mike Lookinland, Susan Olsen, Christopher Knight and Eve Plumb – who were all seated together at a table in the audience.
Kenan subsequently broke out in dance to a triple mashup of the theme songs from “Law & Order,” “Stranger Things” and “Game of Thrones” before introducing Oprah Winfrey as the first award presenter of the evening.
Adding to the musical entertainment of the 2022 Emmy Awards was Zedd, who was the show’s DJ for the evening.
