As the National Football League playoffs begin this weekend, so does the countdown for Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show.
Some 30 days until America’s most watched sporting event, a new trailer for Usher’s forthcoming performance was released today (1.12.) Featuring a cameo-filled version of Usher’s perennial classic with Lil Jon and Ludacris, “Yeah!” the visual and auditory composition consists of a collection of clips of old Usher performances, a gospel choir, a marching band, fan home videos, a flautist, a small string section, and a group beatboxing at a diner table. The trailer also features J Balvin, LeBron James singing in his car and BTS’ Jung Kook dancing with Usher (as previewed a few months back on TikTok).
Addressing his performance at this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer, in September Usher stated “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
Concurrent with his Super Bowl Sunday halftime show, the superstar singer/songwriter/dancer will release his next LP, Coming Home. The full length marks his first collection since Hard II Love (2016,) and will feature his 2023 summer single, “Good Good,” with Summer Walker and 21 Savage, along with his recent Jung Kook collaboration “Standing Next to You” remix, and his “Risk It All” duet with H.E.R. from the Color Purple soundtrack.
