Born Justin Clarke-Samuel, rapper/actor Ghetts has been charged over a fatal hit-and-run incident that caused serious injury by dangerous driving.
According to London’s Metropolitan Police, the 41-year-old musician/thespian allegedly failed to stop his car after hitting a 20-year-old man in the East London on Saturday, October 18.
On Monday (10.20,) the British-born defendant appeared in Stratford Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to custody before his next appearance at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 27.
After being hit by the moving vehicle, the victim died in the hospital on Monday, and the charge against Clarke-Samuel is now expected to be upgraded from causing serious injury to causing death by dangerous driving. And, according to BBC News, local police are asking for witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.
Having played Glastonbury in 2025, Ghetts has released five full lengths and has collaborated with such high-profile artists as Ed Sheeran, Stormzy and Skepta throughout his career. In 2024 he was nominated for the Mercury Prize for his album, On Purpose, with Purpose, and had a supporting role in the Netflix superhero series Supacell.
