Trump Rules Out Combs Pardon

On Thursday (1.08,) according to a report published in The New York Times, Donald Trump confirmed that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs “asked me for a pardon” at an undisclosed date “through a letter.”

While pressed for further details, the US president commented, “Oh, would you like to see that letter?” but did not produce the note and indicated that he would not be granting the disgraced music mogul’s request.  A spokesperson for the 79-year-old politician subsequently confirmed Combs had asked him for a pardon but declined to add any further comment.

In July of 2025, the musician was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Since his arrest in September 2024 Combs has been behind bars and was sentenced to 50 months in prison.

Having called him a “friend” over a decade earlier, in May of 2025, Trump was asked whether he would consider pardoning the Bad Boy Records founder at a media briefing, but the controversial president claimed the relationship “busted up” when he ran for the presidency in 2016 and that Combs made “nasty statements” about him at the time.

“I haven’t seen him, I haven’t spoken to him for years.” “I don’t know. I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody was mistreated it wouldn’t matter whether they like me or don’t,” said Trump.

At press time, representatives for Combs have yet to comment on the update.
