Serving a decade-long sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, on Monday morning (5.12,) Tory Lanez was taken to the hospital after being stabbed by another inmate.
Held at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, the now 32-year old felon was stabbed multiple times with a shank and was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield.
In a new statement posted to Instagram, the artist’s spokesperson confirmed that Lanez was stabbed 14 times, including, “7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face” adding “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus.” “He is now breathing on his own.”
The representative added that the convict, born Daystar Peterson, is recovering well “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.” “He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.”
Eligible for parole come 2029, it was in December of 2022, that Lanez was found guilty of three felonies related to the shooting, including negligent discharge of a firearm and assault with a firearm..
Born Megan Jovan Ruth Pete, Thee Stallion also successfully obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez after telling the court she feared he would shoot her again if he was released from prison.
