Tom Hanks Hosting ‘Celebrating America’ Inaugural Special With Performances From Gaga, Lopez + More

President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ Presidential Inaugural Committee have announced a primetime special that will serve as the crescendo to their January 20th swearing in ceremony.

The special, Celebrating America, will be hosted by Tom Hanks and will air from 8:30 PM-10 PM across five TV networks and online, including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC, PIC’s YouTube and social media channels. Amazon Prime Video, Twitch and NewsNOW from Fox will also stream the event.

Alongside its significant praise for the new administration, the event is slated to hold performances by Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Ant Clemons, and other artists to be announced. Biden and Harris will also make remarks.

Intended to cap off the Presidential Inauguration day’s events, the broadcast was, in part, developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has forced many traditional events — such as live concerts and the inaugural parade — to be canceled. Other potential concerns over security in the aftermath of last week’s events in Washington have given organizers cause to move the celebration to the virtual space.
