After some two years of dating, on Tuesday (8.26,) Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce took to social media to announce their engagement.
In their joint Instagram post, the Kansas City Chiefs footballer is seen down on one knee in a rose-filled garden. Surrounded by pink and white flowers, the post included additional images of the happy couple embracing, a close-up of Taylor’s enormous engagement ring and the caption “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” backed by audio from the singer’s track ‘So High School.’
After the athlete revealed via the Kelce brothers New Heights podcast that he had tried to give the singer a friendship bracelet during one of her Eras Tour shows, it was in July of 2023 that Swift and Kelce dating rumors started to swirl. Speculation intensified in September of that year when Taylor was spotted cheering from a private suite at a Chiefs game alongside his mother, Donna Kelce.
In her December 2023 Time Person of the Year cover story, the superstar singer/songwriter confirmed that they were already a couple, stating:
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.” “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
The pair have since frequently supported each another at public events, with the Grammy award winner attending 13 Chiefs games and the Super Bowl champ attending several of his fiancee’s Eras Tour concerts.
