As she resumed her Eras Tour in Brazil on Sunday (11.19,) Taylor Swift performed an emotional tribute to the fan who died prior to her Friday (11.17) concert. Due to the extreme temperatures in the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, 23-year old Ana Clara Benevides passed away after fainting and suffering a cardiac arrest.
Having postponed Saturday’s show due to the unprecedented heatwave, Swift returned to the stage on Sunday and performed her emotionally charged heartbreaker, ‘Bigger Than the Whole Sky’ in honor of the fallen fan.
Addressing grief and heartache, ‘Bigger …’ contains such lyrics as “Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye / You were bigger than the whole sky / You were more than just a short time / And I’ve got a lot to pine about / I’ve got a lot to live without / I’m never gonna meet / What could’ve been, would’ve been / What should’ve been you.”
While the 33-year old superstar singer/songwriter did not specifically say that the song was dedicated to Benevides, Swifty fans believe she chose the emotional ballad as a tribute.
