Tate McRae Rejects Britney Spears Film Role

Addressing her potential role as Britney Spears in the embattled singer’s biopic, Tate McRae has passed on the big screen opportunity.

While Jon M. Chu will direct an adaptation of the pop star’s 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, it remains unclear who will play the lead role, after Tate McRae responded to Rolling Stone’s question about her interested in auditioning with “I need to take an acting lesson before I’d even consider ever doing anything.”

While McRae’s performance style is similar to Britney’s, the Canadian songstress insisted she doesn’t really resemble the Princess of Pop, adding “And also, I feel like I look nothing like her or sound nothing like her, so I don’t know if I’d be a great fit.”

Admitting she had mixed feelings about being compared to a young Spears, the 22-year old Canadian said “It’s such a crazy statement because no one can compare to Britney Spears.” “It’s like comparing someone to Michael Jackson. That’s the blueprint!”

Discussing her third studio album, So Close to What, the superstar singer/songwriter stated that she always looked forward to performing ‘Purple Lace Bra’ when she was on her Miss Possessive Tour, explaining:

“I see the girls in the front row screaming that.” “It gives me full-body chills because I’m just like, ‘Oh, we’re all experiencing this. This is not just me. It’s everybody who feels this frustrating feeling that it’s gone on for so f**king long.'”
