In the presence of a massive sold-out show at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, superstars Kendrick Lamar and SZA officially launched their highly anticipated Grand National Tour on Sunday night (4.20.)
Presented by Live Nation, pgLang, and Top Dawg Entertainment, the Hip Hop musicians’ opening night marked the reunion of two of the genre’s most influential voices.
Putting on a show that lived up to the hype, a high-energy DJ set from Mustard warmed up the crowd with a string of hits before the main event.
What was to become a three-plus hour journey through their respective works, Kendrick and and his fellow songstress (born Solána Imani Rowe,) delivered crowd favorites from their GNX, SOS Deluxe: LANA, DAMN., Ctrl, and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers full lengths.
The evening’s specific highlights included show-stopping performances of “tv off,” “peekaboo,” “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” and the explosive “All the Stars,” and the crowning moment was when Lamar and SZA performed their #1 “luther” collaboration.
Combining storytelling, art, and activism in a way that only Kendrick and his SZA can, the stage design and visuals curated under the pgLang creative umbrella was as much a visual feast as it was a sonic celebration.
Scheduled for 39 cities across North America – including stops in Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, and Atlanta before heading to Europe and the UK this summer – the Grand National Tour is being touted as one of the must-see tours of 2025.
