Come March 30 of next year, Barbra Streisand will release her first ever children’s book.
On Thursday (78.06,) editors at Penguin Young Readers and Flamingo Books confirmed that the superstar singer/actress will unveil a picture book titled ‘And By the Way…’ that follows a “grandparent-grandchild pair on a dazzling day as they play, splash, and contemplate life’s most important truths”.
Written by Streisand and illustrated by Paige Keiser, the project, the Oscar-winning thespian took to Instagram with:
“I love being ‘Gamma Barbra’ to my three beautiful grandchildren.” “Since reading is such a wonderful way to engage and stimulate young minds, I was inspired to write my first children’s picture book. And by the way… I hope you like it!”
And in a statement to People, the multi-Grammy award winner explained that the book’s title comes from an expression she uses often, adding:
“It seems like there’s always one more thing to say!” “The message is one of discovery, self-expression, self-reliance and of course, love.”
Now 84-years old, Streisand is a grandparent through her stepson Josh Brolin’s two marriages who shares his two youngest children, Westlyn, seven, and Chapel, five, with wife Kathryn Boyd.
In November of 2023, Barbra Streisand released her memoir, ‘My Name Is Barbra,’ and ‘By the Way… ‘ is now available for pre-order.
