Courtesy of an upcoming reissue, including 40+ unreleased recordings, Slipknot will celebrate the (slightly belated) 25th anniversary of their 1999 self-titled debut LP.
Ahead of the September 5th, 2025 drop date of Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition,” the iconic metal group shared the original demo for the album track “Prosthetics,” recorded prior to entering Malibu’s Indigo Ranch to start work on the LP.
The 25th anniversary package features the original Slipknot alongside two albums of recordings from those Indigo Ranch sessions, along with another disc of demos that the band recorded prior to going into the studio. The six-album collection is topped off by a pair of live recordings: Five songs from Slipknot’s intimate 1999 show in Hartford and a collection of tracks from the group’s UK tour in late 2000.
Released in June of 1999, Slipknot quickly launched the Iowa group from a newly signed metal act playing small gigs to a band capable of selling out arenas.
In a statement, guitarist Jim Root said “We loved what we did with the first record but we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that.” “We just wanted people to hear it. Selling out of records and shows, having successful tours– those are goals for any band. But the dream scenario in some ways, came true for us.”
Available now via preorder,Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition), will be released in several formats, including a limited edition 6LP box set with blood splattered vinyl, a 2LP version, a 2CD version, and digitally; an ultra-limited, 100-copies-only box set, featuring “blood-filled vinyl,” quickly sold out on the band’s “secret” website even before the reissue was announced.
