Quite some time since her last release, Sky Ferreira has returned with “Don’t Forget.”
An anthemic return to the synth-rock style of her 2013 debut LP, Night Time, My Time, Ferreira’s new single embraces darkness and a desire to neither forgive nor forget with such lyrics as “It’s such a raw deal world/I don’t need to deceive you/I am the real bad girl.”
Sky first came to the fore as a budding teen pop star in the early 2010s with her buzz-worthy Ghost EP (2012) release that featured “Everything Is Embarrassing,” followed by her debut album Night Time, My Time that led to her opening for the likes Miley Cyrus and Vampire Weekend.
Despite Ferreira’s promise that a sophomore album Masochism is forthcoming, she’s yet to release the long-promised project and hasn’t released much music at all over the years. Following a self-imposed five-year musical hiatus, Sky dropped the ambient “Downhill Lullaby” in 2019.
In between solo repertoire, Ferreira’s been featured on songs by Charli XCX and Primal Scream, and has also done some acting, appearing in the television reboots of Twin Peaks and Twilight Zone as well as Edgar Wright’s film Baby Driver.
