Opening the 2021 American Music Awards with their latest classic R&B-tinged single, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak aka Silk Sonic performed “Smokin Out the Window.”
Clad in velvety red suits, the R&B/pop duo traded vocals in front of their live band that included background singers, and horn players. True to the retro-composition itself, everything about the performance was reminiscent of the 1970s including their choreographed dance moves, the glowing stage lights, and big sunglasses.
Features their two previous singles “Leave the Door Open” and “Skate,” with guest spots from Babyface, Bootsy Collins and Thundercat, “Smokin Out the Window” is the third and most recent single from the Silk Sonic’s recently issued debut Atlantic Records LP, An Evening With Silk Sonic.
Silk Sonic was nominated for three awards at the 2021 AMAs and took home the prize for Favorite R&B Song.
