After being hospitalized, Shakira was forced to cancel a tour date.
Currently on the road with her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour and scheduled to perform in Lima, Peru on Sunday night (2.16,) the now 48-year-old Colombian music superstar was rushed to the hospital with an urgent health issue that required emergency treatment.
Taking to social media, the multi-Grammy award winner apologized to her fans via Instagram Stories:
“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized. The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.” “I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform.”
Promising that she’d return to perform for those left disappointed by the cancellation, the musician (born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) added “My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you. Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all.”
On Thursday (2.20,) Shakira is scheduled to perform in Barranquilla in her native Colombia after which her trek will continue through June 30 when she’ll end her road trip with string of concerts in San Francisco.
