In advance of her upcoming world tour, Shakira has already broken one of Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour records.
Born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, the superstar singer has become the first woman to sell out five consecutive stadium shows at the GNP Seguros stadium (formerly Foro Sol) in Mexico City.
Superseding Swift’s record of selling out four consecutive shows at the stadium during her most recent tour, the demand for Shakira’s upcoming world tour tickets has been exceptional, forcing the Colombian star to delay the North American leg of the trek in order to move shows from arenas to larger stadiums.
Taking to Instagram, Shakira wrote “I’m so excited to share my best show yet with you.” “Thank you all for supporting and inspiring me to keep pushing myself. I can’t wait to celebrate with you in May!”
Though she previously announced four shows at the stadium, the Grammy Award winner added the fifth record-breaking sold-out show in response to extraordinary demand. The second-largest stadium in Mexico City, the venue has a 65,000 person capacity.
Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is named after her LP of the same name, which she released in March, and just last week, the Latin American star dropped the music video for the lead single, ‘Soltera.’
