In accordance with the legendary act’s famous lyric, “Do you remember the 21st night of September,” the Los Angeles City Council has declared September 21 “Earth, Wind & Fire Day“.
When presenting the three original Earth, Wind & Fire band members – Ralph Johnson, Philip Bailey and Verdine White – with certificates commemorating their day, Los Angeles Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson stated “They made Los Angeles their home, and so we decided in the city of LA, September 21 will be ‘Earth, Wind & Fire Day.”
With six six Grammys to their credit throughout decades of massive success, Earth, Wind & Fire have churned out such memorable hits as “September,” “Shining Star” and “After the Love Has Gone” with thirty-three of their songs appearing on the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
