Preempting the availability of her next full length, Selena Gomez has announced a forthcoming “fun little song.”
On Thursday (8.17,) the now 31-year-old singer/actress took to Instagram and confirmed new music later this month, writing:
“Ya’ll have been asking for new music for a while.” “Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer. SINGLE SOON. August 25th. Presave it now,” alongside a photo of the ‘Single Soon’ cover, featuring Selena in a chic fur jacket with several additional snapshots.
Working on what promises to be her fourth full length and the follow-up 2020’s Rare, a press release about the new project states “she wanted to give her fans a fun end of the summer song to enjoy as they’ve been patiently waiting for new music.”
The single, produced by Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat, follows Selena and musician Rema’s chart-topping remix of ‘Calm Down,’ which peaked at #3 after spending several weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.
Not the first time Blanco has worked with Gomez, Benny produced Selena’s prior hits ‘Hands to Myself’ and ‘Kill ‘Em With Kindness’ from her 2015 album Revival.
In addition to her music career, the Rare Beauty founder has been busy working on the third season of the hit Disney+ series Only Murders in the Building, with co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, which premiered on August 8.
The new Selena Gomez single will be released on August 25.
