Based on his recent immigration actions since taking office, Selena Gomez has turned on President Trump over ongoing deportation raids.
Upon returning to power on Monday (1.20,) President Trump has ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to begin deporting unlawful migrants en masse.
Over this past weekend images surfaced of individuals being confronted by authorities and then cuffed and taken away. In addition, the President performed a power move against Colombia as authorities there attempted to stop America from returning their citizens.
The aforementioned scene ignited alarm in the United States with superstar singer/actress Gomez taking to her Instagram Stories account on Monday (1.27) with an emotional plea:
“I just wanted to say that I am so sorry. My people are getting attacked… The children… They don’t understand.” “I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do.”
Struggling through her tears, the American-Mexican star continued continued to wipe tears from her face, and with her hand shaking, Gomez added, “I’ll try everything, I promise.”
After suffering backlash and a deleted video, Selena posted a message stating, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.”
Trump has raised significant concern by giving ICE officers the power to target schools and churches in order to make arrests and deportations and vowing to crack down on undocumented immigrants and organize mass deportations. America’s 47th President also placed emergency sanctions on Colombia when authorities there denied flights with deported Colombian citizens from landing on Sunday.
In response, the South American nation quickly folded and dispatched the Colombian presidential plane to aid in repatriating citizens.
