Behind bars since September of 2024 when he was arrested in a Manhattan hotel and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs‘ request to have his trial delayed has been denied.
Pleading ‘not guilty’ to the charges held against him and vehemently denying any wrongdoing, the now 55-year old embattled musician is scheduled to stand trial in May.
In an attempt to give his legal team additional time to prepare, the musician asked the judge to allow the highly anticipated trial to be delayed by two months.
According to Us Weekly, on Friday (4.18,) Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the defense team’s request to push back the trial’s start date that will begin on May 5 with a jury selection set to begin ahead of opening statements scheduled for May 12.
From day one, Combs has aggressively denied the allegations made against him and, Marc Agnifilo, his lawyer has long urged those with an interest in the trial to wait for the evidence to be heard and a ruling to be made before passing judgment. In a prior interview, the attorney told Us Weekly that the music star was “an imperfect person” but “not a criminal,” adding “Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
