In celebration of the two-decade anniversary of their self-titled debut LP, the Scissor Sisters are embarking on a reunion tour.
Come May of 2025, the original band’s members – including vocalist Jake Shears, guitarist Del Marquis and multi-instrumentalist Scott ‘Babydaddy’ Hoffman – will go on tour in the U.K. and Ireland.
Taking to social media on Thursday (10.31,) the American dance/pop act wrote:
“Exciting news, for the first time in over a decade, we will come together again, live next May across the UK and Ireland.” “And for the first time ever, our debut album Scissor Sisters will be performed in full in celebration of its 20th anniversary – alongside all the other Scissor hits from along the way.”
The last time the current trio performed together was at London’s Roundhouse in October 2012, several months after the release of their fourth and final full length, Magic Hour.
About the absence of his co-vocalist Ana Matronic, Shears told The Independent, “I think it just didn’t line up. It’s not something that she wanted to do at this moment in time. And I didn’t want that to keep us from coming out and playing these songs.”
When asked about the band’s future beyond the tour, Jake said, “I think the door is open. It could just be the 20th anniversary – or it could be the beginning of something really exciting. We’re doing it to have fun and enjoy ourselves.”
The Scissor Sisters’ reunion tour will launch on May 16 at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on May 16, prior to shows at Bournemouth, Manchester, London, Leeds and Birmingham in England, Glasgow in Scotland, Cardiff in Wales and Belfast in North Ireland, before wrapping up at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on May 28.
Tickets go on pre-sale on November 6 ahead of a general sale on November 8.
