On Thursday (12.18,) while discussing United States conservatism and his conversion to Christianity, on day one of the Turning Point USA AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Russell Brand took time out to criticize his ex-wife Katy Perry‘s new relationship with Justin Trudeau.
While addressing the crowd, the English actor-comedian cracked a joke about the the superstar singer, whom he married in 2010 until their divorce in July 2012.
“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mum’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was O.K. with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man!” “Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,” said the controversial speaker.
Perry actor Orlando Bloom started dating in early 2016 and got engaged three years later, before welcoming their daughter named Daisy Dove in 2020. However, in July, the singer and the actor announced they had recently ended their relationship. Shortly thereafter, Katy was linked to former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, with the pair going Instagram official earlier this month.
Since 2017, the 50-year old Brand has been married to Laura Gallacher and the couple share three children.
Earlier this year, Brand was charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault but pleaded not guilty to all five charges in a London court the following month. The charges relate to allegations by four separate women about incidents that allegedly took place between 1999 and 2005.
At press time, representatives for Katy Perry have not yet responded to the comments.
