Actress Ruby Rose has alleged that Katy Perry sexually assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub “almost two decades ago.”
Responding to a post about the pop star’s reaction to Canadian singer Justin Bieber’s headlining Coachella set (she attended with her partner, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau) on Saturday night, Rose made the following allegation in the comment section:
“Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s**t what she thinks.”
Denying the accusation, a representative for the superstar singer/songwriter told CBC News:
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false; they are dangerous, reckless lies.” “Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
In a series of posts, the Aussie actress claimed the alleged incident occurred when she was in her early 20s, writing that Perry “bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face” adding that she has previously “told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it”.
Admitting that Perry had later agreed to help Rose get her US visa, so she chose to keep it a secret, the now 40-year old thespian stated that it had taken her nearly twenty years to share the allegation, and that she was “grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice”.
